China’s R&D spending tops €125 billion

National R&D spending in China hit a record high of 1.02 trillion yuan (€125 billion) in 2012, representing 1.97 per cent of the country’s GDP, the national news agency has reported.

China spent 1.84 per cent of its GDP on R&D in 2011 and 1.75 per cent in 2010, the article said. Annual R&D spending grew around 20 per cent a year from 2006 to 2011, it said.
