India invites researchers from neighbouring countries

India’s science department has launched a fellowship programme to enable researchers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka to work in Indian research institutions.

The India Science and Research Fellowship programme is aimed at mid-career researchers, according to a report on the Dhaka Tribune news site on 5 November. It provides travel allowance, sustenance allowance, contingency grants and medical facilities.

The offer follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Arabinda Mitra, the head of international bilateral cooperation at India’s science department, and Mesbahuddin Ahmed, president of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, on 16 October in New Delhi.
