China considers a greener Belt and Road route

The Chinese government is considering establishing a fund to support green development as part of its ambitious international investments, an official document has said.

China is contemplating setting up dedicated funds to support environmental and green industry development as part of its Belt and Road initiative, according to a plan by its environment ministry.

The Belt and Road initiative is the Chinese government’s $1-trillion programme of economic diplomacy, which aims to build infrastructure in countries along its ancient trade routes in Asia, Europe and Africa.
