Iran launches a Muslim technology ‘Nobel’

Iran has announced plans to launch its own award scheme for Muslim scientists to match the Nobel science and technology prizes, according to Iranian news agency Fars News on 13 October.

The “Great Prophet World Prize” will be awarded every two years in three technological fields including nuclear research, stem cell and medicine production, and nanotechnology. The fields have been chosen to reflect the current strengths of the Iranian research community.
