Unconditional offers ‘not working’ for students

OfS warns universities again over damage caused by such offers

Students who receive unconditional offers are significantly more likely to drop out during their first year than those whose offers depend on their exam results, the Office for Students has warned.

In its latest intervention over unconditional offers, the OfS revealed that students with such an offer—guaranteeing them a place at their chosen university regardless of their A Level results—are 10 per cent more likely to drop out of university during their first year than students who receive a conditional offer.
