Conservatives ‘broke half of 2017 manifesto pledges’

But party did fulfil promise to boost number of scientists and build institutes of technology

The Conservatives failed to deliver on most of the main pledges made in their last election manifesto, and have a mixed record on research promises, according to research from the University of Manchester. 

The Manchester team combined polling data on how important voters perceived each promise in the 2017 Conservative manifesto, when Theresa May was the party leader, to be with details on actual delivery of these promises.
