Moeti reappointed as WHO Africa head, and more news from this week
Matshidiso Moeti has been re-appointed World Health Organization regional director for Africa for a second term. The WHO board announced the decision during a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, on 3 February. Moeti is a Botswana national and the first woman to hold the continental WHO job. “As Africa increasingly faces the double burden of diseases, the next five years in public health will be crucial in laying a strong foundation to reverse this burden,” Moeti said after her reappointment.
