Opposition to Macron’s pension reforms spreads as scientists again plan to hit the streets
France’s public transport strikes may currently be on hold but teachers and researchers are preparing industrial action throughout February and March.
Normality has returned to the streets of France after more than a month of disruption in response to the planned pension reforms being driven through by president Emmanuel Macron and his prime minister Édouard Philippe. Led by transport workers, the strikes have now ended—but plans are afoot for more, including action by university teaching and research staff.
