Ethics professor criticises online safety practices
Universities are “failing in the most basic practices” when it comes to protecting students online, an ethics professor and expert on internet abuse has said.
According to Andy Phippen, a professor of digital rights at Bournemouth University, it is a mistake to assume that once students transition from school to university they are “equipped to deal with issues of online harassment, abuse and extortion with no further need for raising awareness or education around critical digital literacies”.
