Sydney’s community gardens are playing a vital role in urban renewal, community mental health and understanding of cultural differences, research conducted by the University of New South Wales has found.
Linda Corkery, a landscape architect and built environment professor at UNSW, says the rise of community gardens in city streets has overtaken and replaced the environmental activist concept of “guerrilla gardening”.
