Reform of laws on genetically modified organisms ‘should shift focus from process to product’
EU rules on genetically modified organisms must be updated quickly to meet ambitions for sustainability and economic growth, a group representing European learned academies has said.
Current EU rules around the use of GMOs are “not fit for purpose”, the European Academies Science Advisory Council said in a position paper published on 4 March, echoing its earlier statements and those of research organisations in Germany.
