Academies group points to ‘number of deficiencies’ in cloud’s legal basis, says more expertise needed
The rules of the European Open Science Cloud, an EU-backed data-sharing and analysis initiative, must align with EU laws such as those governing intellectual property rights and privacy, the Allea federation of European academies of sciences and humanities has warned.
Allea set out its position on EOSC’s rules, which are currently being drafted, in a position paper on 31 March. It welcomed progress made so far and said EOSC has “great potential to accelerate the transition towards open science”, but warned that the cloud needs “improved legal and technical foundations”.
