Province’s numbers evidence of influx of foreign black researchers, paper claims
A paper examining publication trends among scientists in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province has found an increase in the numbers of papers written by black researchers. However, its authors suggest this is not indicative of a true racial transformation of the province’s research cohort, but that it is rather the result of a rise in foreign black researchers.
The paper appeared on 26 March in the South African Journal of Science. It was written by Radhamany Sooryamoorthy and Mduduzi Mtshali, sociologists from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
