Studies of effects on reproduction and female fertility are ‘scarce’, study finds
Europe’s chemicals regulator has warned that there is a lack of information about whether widely used nanomaterials have harmful effects on women’s fertility and reproduction.
Tiny particles of chemicals such as zinc oxide, silicon oxide, titanium dioxide and silver can pass through cell walls and are used in a wide variety of products, including pillowcases and sunscreen, but their safety has yet to be fully ascertained, the European Chemicals Agency warned in a press release on 6 April.
