Departed European Research Council president ‘failed to understand’ funder’s role, claims predecessor
The committee that suggested Mauro Ferrari could become president of the European Research Council knew it was a risky move, according to a previous ERC president and committee member. Ferrari quit as head of the EU flagship research funder on 7 April after just over three months in the role.
“We knew there were risks involved in including Mauro Ferrari” in the shortlist of three candidates presented to the ERC’s governing Scientific Council and the European Commission, Helga Nowotny told Research Professional News.
