Christchurch researchers find evidence of ‘quake brain’ memory loss among earthquake survivors
New Zealand scientists have shown that there is a link between post-traumatic stress caused by experiencing a powerful earthquake and a memory loss condition known as ‘quake brain’.
The finding is based on a study that involved more than 200 people who had experienced the devastating 6.2-magnitude Christchurch earthquake in 2011. The earthquake and its aftershocks killed 185 people and caused more than 2,000 injuries.
