Auckland academic finds research emphasis may work against teaching excellence
Universities across the world often attract students based on their strong research, but a strong university research climate may work against teaching performance, according to researchers at the University of Auckland.
Lixin Jiang, a lecturer in the school of psychology at the University of Auckland, looked at the relationship between how dedicated faculty members reported themselves to be to teaching, how good they thought they were at it, and how strong they thought the research climate at their universities was.
