Updated plan ramps up EU ambitions in quantum computing

The European Commission wants to raise EU, member state and private spending on high-performance computing to €8 billion over 13 years, citing the technology’s economic and geopolitical importance.

“Supercomputing is at the forefront of our digital sovereignty, encompassing industrial, technological and scientific challenges,” internal market commissioner Thierry Breton said on 18 September.
