The challenges keep piling up for higher education
And we’re back. Not much has happened since our last Playbook on 17 December: just another national lockdown, the switch to online learning for most university teaching, an inevitable Gavin Williamson U-turn on A-levels, a change of business secretary, a new chair of the Office for Students, widespread student rent strikes, the end of the Brexit transition period and world-leading rates of Covid-19 infection across the country.
