Better recognition for academics is built into controversial reforms, minister states during open science drive
France’s research minister, Frédérique Vidal, has announced that LPPR—a set of wide-reaching reforms to science funding in the country—will place science at the service of wider society.
The reforms, which are being rolled out across France, would also do more to recognise the work of researchers, she said. The LPPR will make changes to academic pensions and hiring practices, and has been met with some support and widespread criticism.
