Conference hears of issues facing students during pandemic
The National Union of Students Wales has warned that Covid-19 challenges for learners “will last for years to come”, but that students in Wales are “lucky” compared with others in the UK.
NUS Wales president Becky Ricketts told the union’s national conference on 2 March that almost a year since the first national lockdown forced teaching and learning online, many students are still “struggling to access education” with poor-quality broadband, while others are “trapped in rental contracts” and paying for rooms they are not using as they have been told to stay away from campuses.
