Australia’s National Health and Medical Research Council aims for greater equality of opportunity
Changes to the rules for the National Health and Medical Research Council’s Investigator Grant scheme involve closer scrutiny of researchers’ careers and updated rules for assessors.
The grants are the NHMRC’s flagship funding scheme, offering researchers a five-year package for both salary and research projects. In 2020, the total amount awarded was A$367.5 million, with an average of A$1.5m going to 237 researchers.
