Food strategy ‘only partially’ reflects advice, neglecting human rights considerations, experts complain
Scientific experts who advised the EU on creating a sustainable food system have criticised the European Commission’s subsequent strategy for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system, saying it “only partially” reflects their recommendations.
The Commission’s Farm to Fork Strategy, published in May, focuses on framing food as a tradable commodity, the experts led by Peter Jackson, co-director of the Institute for Sustainable Food of the University of Sheffield in the UK, said in a paper published on 11 March in the journal Nature Food.
