Andy Eavis and Rita Gardner recognised for “extraordinary achievement” in the field
The Royal Geographical Society has announced the recipients of its prestigious Royal Medals, which recognise extraordinary achievement in geographical research, fieldwork, teaching, policy and public engagement.
Andy Eavis, chair of the British Caving Association, was awarded the society’s 2021 Founder’s Medal for his “significant contribution in leading speleological expeditions, exploring and recording some of the largest caves in the world for over 50 years”, the RGS announced on 4 May.
