Almost 25,000 jobs furloughed across 700 UK higher education employers, according to latest HMRC data
Higher education institutions have claimed £77 million from the national furlough scheme since November, government data show.
Provisional figures released by the government’s tax agency on 6 May show that the total value of claims made by higher education institutions to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, which pays towards the costs of furloughed staff, reached £77 million by 31 March—up from £59 million at the end of February.
