Number of students and researchers going abroad stalled during Covid-19, German exchange service says
Fewer students and researchers took part last year in exchange programmes run by DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service, the organisation has revealed.
The number of students, graduates and researchers funded by DAAD during 2020—the year during which the coronavirus pandemic swept the globe—fell by about a quarter compared with 2019, according to the organisation’s annual report. DAAD recorded around 111,000 funded students, graduates and researchers last year.
