Climate Change Commission’s advice on reaching net zero receives mixed response from scientists
New Zealand has a chance of meeting its 2050 net zero target for greenhouse gas emissions but only if it takes immediate action, according to advice published by the national Climate Change Commission.
The document, released on 9 June, covers the period from 2022 to 2025. Many scientists reacted by expressing doubts about the advice, including one professor who said the commission had not properly engaged with climate scientists.
