Commission told broad range of technologies must be supported in push for net zero
The EU’s top scientific advisers have said the bloc needs to support far more research on far more technologies if it is to achieve its green goals and maintain its global innovation standing.
In a 29 June report for the European Commission on how the bloc could achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, experts working for the Science Advice for Policy by European Academies (Sapea) group said that tens of trillions of euros would need to be pumped into technologies such as batteries and hydrogen power to create energy systems fit for the future.
