Fortunes not reversed as earlier decline in applications continues
Experts have again called on the government to set up a scholarship system to attract students from the European Union, as application data show a 43 per cent drop ahead of a hike in tuition fees.
Data released by admissions body Ucas last week showed that the 40 per cent plunge in applications to UK universities from the EU, first reported in February, had grown worse by the 30 June application deadline.
