Annual report shows rise in state government’s R&D expenditure, with health agency spending the most
Government spending on R&D increased in Queensland in 2019-20, with health continuing to be the largest area of expenditure.
The 2019-20 report from the office of the chief scientist for Queensland showed that the state spent A$380 million on R&D, up from A$356m the year before. Of the 2019-20 amount, 41 per cent was “leveraged” spending, or money from other sources but related to government-backed projects.
