More than quarter spend less than day annually on development compared with ten recommended days
Less than a fifth of researchers spend the recommended time on professional development activities—despite high interest to do so—with many citing a lack of time, according to a new survey conducted by the higher education careers organisation Vitae.
Vitae’s head Janet Metcalfe told the Vitae Connections conference on 9 September that just 15 per cent of research staff spent 10 days or more on training and development activities each year as recommended in the researcher development concordat.
