Analysis of Horizon 2020 open data pilot calls suggests greater use of best practice
An analysis of a push to open up access to research data that was trialled in the EU’s 2014-20 Horizon 2020 R&D programme has concluded that adopting a flexible approach and focusing on data management might be more beneficial than making researchers follow rigid rules to open up their results.
The study was done by Timothy Austin, a researcher at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre evidence service, alongside staff at the Belgian research and consulting company Innovation in Research and Engineering Solutions, and was published this month in the journal Data.
