Report suggests that Norway’s legal guarantees are insufficient to keep researchers safe and supported
Supporting academic freedom in Norway will require more than legislative changes, according to a report compiled by an expert group working for the country’s research ministry.
The report found that, in order to encourage researchers to participate in public debate, Norway needs to build “a culture of expression every day” from the bottom up. The committee that wrote the report was convened by Ola Borten Moe, Norway’s minister for research and higher education.
