Warning for European R&D ‘going unheard’ among politicians

“Hope is fading” for Stick to Science campaign on Swiss and UK ties to EU

Politicians are not hearing the increasingly desperate pleas from research leaders to avoid jettisoning decades of European research cooperation by cutting EU ties to Switzerland and the UK, a campaign leader has warned.

“The people who could make a difference didn’t or chose not to hear us,” Martin Vetterli, the president of Switzerland’s École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, said in a 29 June update on the Stick to Science campaign, which he has helped to lead.
