Engineers tell Tory leadership candidates engineering is “vital” to deal with climate and ecological crisis
A prominent group of engineers has urged Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak to prioritise engineering if they become the next UK prime minister.
In letters to the two Conservative leadership candidates, Hayaatun Sillem, chief executive of Royal Academy of Engineering, said engineering expertise was needed to address “increasingly complex challenges” in the UK, from ensuring the country meets its net-zero targets to increasing resilience to future pandemics.
