New UK prime minister promises to fulfil Conservative Party’s 2019 manifesto, ahead of cabinet reshuffle

The UK’s newly appointed prime minister Rishi Sunak has said he remains committed to the party’s 2019 manifesto, including helping businesses to invest and innovate, as he warned of “difficult decisions to come” during the current economic crisis.

The ex-chancellor became prime minister after meeting King Charles at Buckingham Palace on 25 October following a turbulent week in UK politics that saw Liz Truss announce her decision to step down after just 44 days in the role.
