Tech leaders ‘right’ to talk of AI dangers, says George Freeman

But UK science minister warns against one-size-fits-all approach to regulation

Scientists and tech industry leaders are “right” to warn of the dangers of artificial intelligence, UK science minister George Freeman has said.

He was speaking after some experts and public figures—including the leaders of Google DeepMind, Microsoft and OpenAI—issued a warning that AI poses an existential threat to humanity and should be taken as seriously as pandemics and nuclear war.
