European universities blast tighter grant oversight by US NIH

Measure stemming from Covid origins controversy includes requirement to regularly turn over lab notebooks

Almost 100 leading universities from across Europe have raised “grave concerns” over the tightening of grant conditions for foreign collaborators by the National Institutes of Health in the US.

The new NIH measures “will complicate and may tarnish existing research collaborations between the US and Europe,” said 86 institutions in a joint statement shared with Research Professional News.
